Studio deFORM pro

We have addressed our friends Václav Mlynář and Jakub Pollág, working together since 2011 under the brand deFORM to design the interior of the newly opened official BOTAS 66 store.

We have been following the work of the young studio ever since its creation and we find it quite close to our own thinking. Their individual approach to projects never lacks wit making the designers able to gain the maximum effect out of minimum resources.

Recently, the results of the deFORM studio can be seen more and more. Their series of lighting and furniture called Transmission, made in the traditional Kavalier Glassworks in Sázava, was successful at several prestigious international fairs and among other things has found its place in the cult showroom of Rossana Orlandi, the first lady of the Milan design scene. The designers collaborate with larger commercial brands such as Nike, Heineken or duPont and create a variety of unusual exhibition presentations (seen at Designblok 2013).

Furthermore, they have designed a collection of customizable urban bike helmets for the brand Krust, exhibition furniture for the international festival of contemporary design designSUPERMARKET or a beer bottle opener for creative group OKOLO. All this and much more resulted in this year’s victory at the prestigious Czech Grand Design awards, where the pair received first place in the Discovery of the year category.

In addition to a variety of commercial jobs they aren’t afraid to realize their own, often quite bold projects. One of these is a collection of accessories called Bianco P from 2012, made of luxurious Tuscan marble. The designers have decided to get to know the whole process of handling. They have personally driven to pick up their own block of white stone to one of the oldest European marble mines in Carrara. And they did it in style – in their own three-wheeler Piaggio APE 50. They have recorded a video from their journey.

In our choice of designers for the interior design of the BOTAS 66 store, the choice was quite clear. Since studio deFORM meets several of the previously set criteria, so why look somewhere else. As for how the gentlemen finally leveled with the assignment, which was to merge a sales space with a stylized factory suitable for workshops and similar events, you can see for yourself in the attached sketches, or when you come and visit us at Křížkovského 18, Praha 3 – Žižkov. We look forward to seeing you there.
