13 Real

13 Skutečných (meaning real people, but also derived from the town Skuteč, where Botas is made) is a series of large format documentary photographs created for the homonymous exhibition, which took place in 2009 in the (A)VOID gallery in Prague.

The series presents the models from the first collection of BOTAS 66 in an unconventional way, in the hands of the people that are responsible for their production. The authentic portraits of the employees of Botas a. s. in their own working environment in the factory in Skuteč, were taken by photographer Zdeněk Šebesta.

The series had a goal to remind the public that the production of Botas is still located in the Czech Republic and that the shoes don’t just pop off a sterile production line operated by robots, but that behind every pair a long effort and time of several real people. The production is a long and responsible process, ending with a satisfied customer, who should get a handmade product of the highest quality.
